Bringing a lake back to life.
Peter Eugen Moll has a farm in São José dos Campos, in the state of São Paulo in Brazil. Some years ago he started a company that grows ornamental plants, which he sells at the regional market. The plants need a reliable source of healthy water. Since Peter Moll was not sure whether his water was really of good enough quality, he decided to use the water from a lake, which formed part of his property. The only problem was that the lake water was biologically dead. The question was how to revitalise it.
Having heard of Grander Technology ten years earlier, he then discovered that the technology was also available in Brazil, so he had a revitalisation system added to the circulation pump of the lake. The regeneration process was obvious to everyone. The previously milky brown, bad smelling water returned to its original clarity and the strong algae growth, indicative of high levels of pollution, was completely stopped. The lake recovered to such an extent that Peter Moll is now able to breed fish in it, and a constantly increasing variety of plants now grow on the banks.
Three months after the installation of the Grander system, Peter Moll waters the plants in his three glasshouses only with water from the lake. Since then, they grow evenly and strongly. The leaves are wider, bigger, very dark and intensely green and no longer prone to disease – despite the reduction in fertilisers and pesticides. Customers also report that the plants survive re-potting much better, and seem to have a greater vitality. Peter Moll has managed to achieve two things at once – the revitalisation of his lake and improved plant growth – resulting in increased profit from sales and reduction of costs. He also uses the lake water to irrigate his own vegetable garden, so the family can enjoy the benefits too. |
