Grander Technololgy in a hospital

For many years, engineer Wolfgang Grasser was responsible for the technical department of the Steyr District Hospital. One day he was confronted with a problem in an important steam-producing unit. Chemicals had always been added to the water to avoid limescale, but these deposits had become more of a problem.

‘We were having to dismantle the units to remove the limescale every two to three months – and we have 55 units!

We had to have one man working on this maintenance work practically 24 hours a day, because these units are very expensive and the risk of damage was high,’ Grasser said. Because of the high financial and labour costs this constant cleaning incurred, Grasser started looking for a permanent solution.

A colleague recommended installing a Grander revitalisation system. Grasser was sceptical at first, but did his research, while also contacting other companies who had already installed the system.

‘After installing the Grander system, we were able to reduce the amount of chemicals by 50 percent, and then by up to 75 percent. The initial investment was justified within 12 months,’ said Grasser.‘Maintenance work was also reduced. In addition, the very hard limescale, which had encrusted the pipes and had had to be hammered off, was now a soft paste that could be rinsed off. Getting rid of these limescale encrustations means that the units have a service life which is now between two to four times as long.’
