Grander gherkins from Seeburger
Johann Uzsoky owns the Seeburger Canning company, famous for its bottled and canned vegetables and salads, in Seekirchen, in the Salzburg district. The company has a long and successful history and a reputation for its exceptionally good Seeburger gherkins.
Around eight years ago, Uzsoky had a Grander water revitaliser installed to deal with the following problems. The cooling water circuit contained bacteria, while the sieving plant was affected by slime algae and heavy limescale. Because the highest degree of cleanliness and sterility in production is essential, Uzsoky looked for a solution that was compatible with food production and decided on Grander Technology.
Once the Grander unit had been installed, contamination ceased immediately. The pumps worked more efficiently and quietly, the rust which had always formed on the metal roof of the cooling tower disappeared, the cooling fins no longer had to be cleaned, algae and limescale fell to practically zero, there was no corrosion on can lids or jar tops, and the units only required cleaning every six to eight weeks instead of every two to three.
Johann Uzsoky has also done the sums. ‘The savings in this area alone, of reduced maintenance, chemical and fresh water consumption, amount to 6,900 euros a year. Energy consumption has been reduced by 20 percent. The financial cost of the unit and its installation are negligible compared to what we have saved since then.’
Water samples are taken regularly and evaluated, which objectively confirms Uzsoky's positive experience. |
